OK. With cases and hospitalizations rising exponentially in Ontario, the announcement on Friday that increased restrictions and financial penalties would immediately be put into effect effectively kiboshed my plans for world domination giving my local community a much needed morale boost. Time for Plan B.
My original aim was to give housebound families a reason to dress up, brush their hair, put on their best smiles and enjoy a brief respite from looking at each other and their own four walls.
In short, I wanted to give people something to look forward to. Sadly, this was not to be.
Plan B
This is not a problem, it’s an opportunity. I can find an upside anywhere. The upside of this is, Postcards From The Porch can now reach even more people, since it is no longer limited by how far I can drive in a day. It can now cross oceans and national borders, even though we can’t.
I am making the frame available below for anyone that wants it. Savvy visitors can download it and put their own photos in it. It is transparent, just slip your own 4×6 photo behind it, save, share and enjoy.

Only limit is, I will only make one Postcard per household. I don’t want people sending me a dozen photos. Of course, there is no limit to how many you can make yourself using the frame, and you can send the frame to others so they can join in with the fun.
Where is this going
I’d like to see Postcards From The Porch make a difference. If this brings a smile to even one lonely face, I’ll be satisfied, but the more people these Postcards reach, the better. Many don’t see a familiar or friendly human face from one day to the next, and let’s be honest Facebook is not always the nicest view out into the world beyond. Depression is a spiral and not fun, particularly when you can’t be around the ones you love. So please, let’s use this frame to maybe spread a little warmth and happiness. One Postcard at a time.
During this time of separation, it’s more important than ever to show that the world isn’t all doom and gloom. Show that we never give up. Never surrender. And are always there for each other in spirit.
At least, I hope that we are. I am an optimist. You probably figured that out by now. It’s a choice.
I don’t know about you, but I think being there for each other is an important message right now.
