Goose Bay

I call this Goose Bay because there is a goose in the bay. Goose Bay, the place, is many hours North of here. This image was taken in Gravelly Bay, Port Colborne, Ontario during a snow squall. The building on the horizon is the locally famous ADM mill and grain elevators.

Compositionally, I find this minimalist image very pleasing. With the beach as foreground and the ADM as background, that goose makes an eye catching focal point that, for me, completes the image. The central location pulls the eye into a seemingly small detail: The goose.

I realize this image may not appeal to everyone. But it does to me. That’s the joy of experimentation.
