As a long-time educator and trainer, I was part of the Adobe Lightroom beta testing program for two years. Over the last decade I’ve helped run a number of social media groups providing information and advice about both programs. And I have noticed a pattern.
New arrivals, some stepping into the photography world for the first time, are unfamiliar with either product and genuinely need advice. We all begin by asking the same simple questions. The first question is, usually, “What is the difference between Lightroom and Photoshop?”
Well, truth is, it’s not a simple one. Depending who you ask you can get any one of a dozen confusing and bewildering answers. There is a lot of crossover. Lightroom and Photoshop have grown into each other over the years. The edges have become blurry. And I want to address that, if for no other reason than to avoid having to answer it twenty times a week in various forums.
The two work well together, but each has a distinct and separate use case. And so.
This video aims to show the strengths and primary purposes of both programs in a simple, logical way. To uncomplex and unbewilder it. Yes, I just made up two words. I am cool.
