The view North from the Clarence Street Bridge in Port Colborne can be spectacular. You would not think so during the day. The Welland Canal is a marvel of engineering, a vital trade route, and a recreational source of joy for many. But few would argue that it is pretty. Until night. At night, the lights come on.
And when the wind and waves permit, the view afforded of the middle bridge is very pretty. Looking akin to an airplane runway, those lights guide ships and sailors and Seaway operatives along their paths safely and securely to their destination.
Me? I like to look at it.
