I have been a tad preoccupied in recent weeks, taking care of a lot of things including work for the Port Colborne Optimist Club.
The Optimist Club year runs October to October, and begins with appointments to the Executive, and the Board Of Directors. I am pleased, nay proud, to announce my ascension from Director to the top table. At the October 9 meeting I was inducted into the Executive and will assume the role of club secretary.
This promotion comes with several benefits: I get to write what I want to the minutes, send internal correspondence at will, and spend even more free time doing the work necessary to help the club run and organise events and community programs.
The club recognizes this extra commitment with a doubling of salary, a very welcome incentive until you realise that all positions in this non-profit organization are entirely voluntary and unpaid. Ah, well. I jest, of course. We do this for love of community, not reward.
