Lake Erie winds tear at the exposed ground along the shoreline. The trees take the brunt of the impact, and each storm sees new casualties. Uprooted trees are not the only victim. The rocky peninsula here is strewn with a carpet of invasive Zebra mussels as fas as the eye can see. Every other step crunches below your feet. The steps in between see you swarmed with sand fleas, or the ladybug lookalikes that can and will bite. This tree is already home to a whole ecosystem of insects.
Life. It always finds a way.
