Long Weekend

Here in Canada we are heading into a long weekend. The Monday before May 24 is Victoria Day, an annual civic holiday that sees Canadians doing all kinds of leisure activities from camping to kayaking. Some stay home in their yards and watch the world go by from the porch. Others jump on a plane to far off lands. Some swim. Many hike. Lots find somewhere to picnic with the family.

It is also our anniversary weekend. My beloved wife and I will find time, sometime, to spend time together at a park with a BBQ and remember why we still love each other after so many years.

Of course, all these activities do share the need for one thing: Good weather.

Weather here in Ontario has been changeable, to say the least. Hot one day, cold the next. Glorious clear skies and sun followed by thunder storms an hour later. It’s a lottery what the day will bring, and that can mean having to change plans quickly. So, like so much of life, it’s wise to have a plan B.

If it rains, kids get bored almost as quickly as adults get frustrated. So here’s something I made from one of my images to help pass the time at such times. Print and enjoy. Everyone colours the image in, the one voted best gets out of doing dishes. And go.

I hope to see some of you out on the trails and back roads this weekend. Somewhere in Niagara.
