The Niagara River forms part of the natural border between Canada and the United States. It stretches from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, along the way dropping over the world famous Niagara Falls.
From the Canadian side you can see upstate New York, including parts of the city of Buffalo, seen here through the International Control Dam that generates a lot of the electricity used in the region. That smoke you think you see is actually steam, water vapour from one of the chimneys on the Buffalo industrial complex. So we have the river, the spray from those wave crests, and that chimney. Sea to sky, as it were.
Water, water, everywhere, as the old mariner rhymed. No, I don’t think I would drink it, either.
