The Empire State Building takes a back seat here. The intersection is our focus.
Visitors to New York expecting to find this building by sight may have a hard time as you literally cannot see this iconic building at ground level most of the time. It’s a needle in the proverbial haystack of surrounding skyscrapers. The Empire State Building is on East 34th, and Madison is the nearest intersection to the East if you are approaching from that direction as I was.
Being of an orderly mind, I aligned the street signs with the buildings. Took a little time, but the resulting photo has a symmetry that makes me want to stare at it for hours. I like symmetry.
