When I’m President

In our recent Port Colborne Optimist Club elections, I was elected President. I take office in October. This post has zero political content. If that is what you seek you can stop reading right here. The title of this post comes from a 90’s music track by Extreme. It seemed fitting. Because I have plans.

Plans to build on the success of those that came before. I will learn from my predecessors, work with my committees, motivate my members. Together, we will build a future.

My focus this term will be on building club membership. We have excellent people in this club. Specialists. But each one can only do so much. To achieve more we must spread the load. For that we need new people. People as passionate about our community as we are. I have a technology background and mindset. I can automate a lot. That will help.

My self-imposed goal is to double membership within 12 months. I know that will take a lot of work. I embrace and accept that challenge. And for this…

I Need People

People that will work for 14 hours straight in summer heat. People that will sell tickets, liaise with sponsors, raise tents, clean ditches. People that will give their time and energy to meetings. People that can flip burgers and people that can count worms into a bucket. People with integrity. People that care. People that will step up.

Does that sound like you? It’s not all glamour. But it is incredibly rewarding to look back on something amazing and know you are part of a team that helped make magic. If you want to become part of that team, let’s do this. The link below takes you to the membership inquiry page of the PC Optimist Club web site.

Read what we do. Fill out the form. Join. 1,2,3. We’re waiting for you.
