After much dithering I am pleased to announce that the first issue of the Somewhere In Niagara magazine is now available. This will be a quarterly publication, themed around my travels through the Niagara region.
Every image will be one of mine, and it will have been taken on my travels Somewhere In Niagara. It’s in the name. Nowhere outside Niagara. That’s my guarantee.
The Details
Photos in each issue will have been taken during the months covered by that issue. January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December. Four sets of three. Magazine content will always match the calendar, so we can follow the seasons. For simplicity, I started with Winter, as those first three months are without doubt the coldest.
Somewhere In Niagara is available globally now in both print and digital formats, at a reasonable US$17 and US$8.99 respectively. The physical magazine quality is as found on a newstand or in a book store. The digital PDF is easier, quicker… and does not incur shipping costs – sadly, I have no control over shipping costs. I wish I did. Physical magazines can be shipped anywhere in the world, and costs are based on your location. I can’t control that, either. 🙂
If you have overseas family, or are an ex-pat Canadian, this might be the magazine for you. Tell your friends and family. Let them take a look, see if they enjoy. And, maybe, consider these as possible gifts for holiday season or birthdays.
Audience Input
The themes for Somewher In Niagara will vary. Though I will make the final choice, you can have a hand in choosing them. I will be guided by subscribers and commenters, so anyone with ideas for a theme, please let me know! Themes may go beyond landscapes and wildlife. Geographic areas. Aerial photography. Lakefront. I have many ideas but nothing is set in stone. Persuade me! In this first issue the focus is on the harsh weather of winter in Niagara.
I may refine the format to add new sections. More pages, more content, full articles on different topics. For this first issue I wanted mainly to confirm the production process and iron out any bugs. I did, and it’s looking good! Take a look at the listing, let me know your thoughts. I would appreciate feedback, so leave a comment!
The Future
I have already ordered my own print copy and am waiting eagerly for delivery, sometime in the next seven days. I want to feel my magazine in my hands and run a loving yet critical eye over it. I’ve been producing magazines and books and brochures for others for a long time. This one is my own project. For me. And for you.
This is only Issue 1, I expect to make refinements for Issue 2. It’s a process. But the hard part is done: The dithering is over, I pulled the trigger. Exciting times are ahead. Join me on this journey, and let’s you and I travel together… Somewhere In Niagara. Onward!
