A friend asked me yesterday about getting a print of one of my photos. He could, he said, have downloaded it, cropped out the watermark and printed it without permission or payment. And he was right.
Most of my work is put online to look it’s best. Hi-res. I know anything I post online is up for grabs, it’s basically a write off. I do not expect to make sales, but hope for bookings. This trade-off is sadly part of the deal when posting images online. Still.
My friend asked me if I could do him a deal on a real print. Which was refreshing. Because he was up front and asked nicely, I am happy to oblige. He didn’t sneakily print it and put it in a frame. He could have. I will be dropping off a gallery quality print within the next 24 hours. Charge? Zero charge. Because he asked.
