The recent golf tournament at Whisky Run in Port Colborne highlighted the joy of being an event photographer. For the duration of the event I got to run around the course in an electric cart with carte blanche to take photos of 100+ golfers. The weather wasn’t great, but the people were. Despite cold, wind, and rain, they laughed and smiled their way around 18 holes as I tried to avoid getting hit in the head by a stray golf ball. It was fun.
Along with my DSLR I had my telephoto lens, usually used for wildlife. This lets me get up close without too much fear of being hit with a tee shot. It has helped me capture some amazing candid moments and is ideal for this kind of event. As a side note, golfers do pull some weird faces as they play, have you ever noticed? With golfers scattered widely over the course, my challenge was to be everywhere at once. So I apologize for any distractions experienced due to an unexpected golf cart in the golfing area. But the task was done. Over 100 quality photos delivered.
In between taking photos I took a couple of minutes to get some behind the scenes video with my 360. I added a couple of images from the event at the end. Result? Two minutes of me working, while hardly working.
