Riverside Sun

Recently, the urge took me to see sunrise at the Fort Erie Peace Bridge. When I arrived the cloud cover was too thick, the sun was clearly not about to make an appearance. So I drove up the Niagara parkway toward the International Railway Bridge, a little further North. By the time we arrived here the cloud cover had thinned enough to make sun photos feasible.

Parking in the adjacent lot my wife and I quickly exited the vehicle, and I immediately threw up the drone to get video of the sun as it rose along the bridge. Just in time, as the sun chose that exact moment to explode into view. It was a glorious sight indeed. From the drones perspective, even better. Within five minutes the sun had risen too far to align with the bridge. The moment had passed. I brought the drone back to my favourite landing spot, the top of my car. Which is less dusty, dirty, or muddy than the ground. Also, no people up there. It’s just a great spot to land.

The action cam had been recording during our flight as well, again from the roof of the car, for some behind the scenes footage. The video below shows the finished product. Well, one of them. 🙂 Landing the drone beside the action cam I grabbed my DSLR in time to get this shot of the trifecta – my car, my drone, my action cam. These, my wife, and I. All watching the day begin, over the Niagara river.

It was now 6:30am. The whole day still ahead. What a way to begin the day.
