Ramping Up To Fundraising

We’re making preparations for an annual fundraising event, the Bursary Of Hope gala auction for autism. This black tie event at Liuna Station in Hamilton, Ontario, sees patrons enjoy an evening of entertainment raising money for a good cause. They can speak better to their cause than I, so to find out more visit their web site, here: https://www.bursaryofhope.com/

For this event my wife and I will don our finest and sit, eat, dance and be merry. Well, she will. I will of course be working. No drinking. As the designated event photographer for the evening I will be moving around the room annoying people, because this year I will be using my flash. I want a different look and feel to these celebrations this time.

Silent Auction

In addition to photographing the event again I am donating a custom framed print of an aerial view of the American Falls to the silent auction. This photo, chosen by the organizer from my Niagara Falls collection, is from when Nikki and I spent an afternoon flying around the falls in a single engine Cessna. It is a great memory for us, and the selected image gives a unique view of this stunning natural phenomenon. The happy bidder will take home something they can mount on their wall as both a point of interest and a warm memory of their evening.

I am spending today creating said print and framing it, in a simple black frame. The successful bidder can switch it to a frame more suiting their own space once they acquire it. I will then begin the other preparations I make for an event. Charging a dozen batteries. Testing camera cards and lenses, lights and flashes. Dusting off the glad rags. Taking the wife to get the inevitable haircut. And then, Friday at 4pm, we set off for Hamilton. It only takes an hour but I allow twice the travel time, because experience has taught me that unexpected things happen all the time. Then, at 6pm, we walk through the doors, put on our best smiles, and the fun begins. Let’s do this.
