Frost on Gibson Lake

As the weather begins to move from Summer to Autumn, the leaves are already changing colour. The days are cooler. The wind sometimes has a bite. Which brings to mind thoughts of Winter. This image of Gibson Lake in Thorold, Ontario, was taken one cold crisp morning from the well-maintained boardwalk that runs alongside the lake at the Mel Schwart conservation area.

I remember the morning was still and silent. You can see that in the placid water. Frost covered the trees like icing sugar. It really was a wonderful moment. Sadly all too short. I’m looking forward to Winter, a little. Well, I say that now. I might grumble when I’m chipping ice off the car. But hey, you can’t have it both ways. When it’s hot we complain. When it’s cold we complain. People are hard to please.
