Being a photographer and a drone pilot does allow some unique opportunities when it comes to selfies.
First, I can send the camera almost anywhere I want. I have some amazingly talented photographer friends, but I am unaware of any that can walk on water. Watching one of them take a step backward into the lake might have been fun to see, but it wouldn’t get me a photo. And then, it’s twenty feet up in the air and I didn’t bring a ladder. A drone is really useful for that kind of stuff.
Second, I don’t have to cede control of the camera to someone else. That is a fantastic bonus for control freaks. Not that I’m a control freak. Oh no. I mean, I even stepped away from the tripod at my wedding when Nikki asked me to. Well, the second time she asked. Or was it the third? Anyway…
I love the vibrant green and the reflections in this shot. I just included myself as a tiny part of this amazingly complex natural wonder. A part of the composition. Nature is beautiful. I wish I was.
