Big & Little

Up with the sun today, I found myself across the Welland Canal from our local grain processing facility, the Robin Hood Mill. Just as the Octantis, a cruise ship of the Viking line, came in to town. This was planned. I had looked at the shipping schedule for the canal ahead of time.

The Robin Hood mill in Port Colborne can be seen for many miles across the entire Niagara peninsula. It is huge, and Niagara is relatively flat. But this ship, even allowing for parallax effect, looks massive alongside. The Octantis is not as tall or long as a Laker, but it looks it. The shortening effect makes it look larger than the mill. And that’s saying something when you consider that Robin Hood has it’s own railways tracks inside the building to accommodate freight trains. I mean, it’s big.

This image was edited to my taste using my own recipe. I got more of the Octantis which might make an appearance at some time. For now, enjoy this. Prints available, of course.
