The Life In Canada series features curated images surrounded by the outline of Canada. Each image is hand picked to represent an aspect of Canadian life.
In this image a Laker carries freight across Lake Erie. Lakers can be up to a quarter mile in length but are only a few metres wide. This allows them to navigate the narrow canal systems connecting the lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, from where the Atlantic can be reached.
Lakers take their name from never leaving the Great Lake system. Their whole existence is within them. Other ships of similar size cross the oceans as well. Such ships are called Salties, because they operate in the salt waters of the seas.
Price listed is for a set of four (4) coasters. Other products are available. Prices for these items depend on the product selected.
